The Legend Of Korra Was Better Than Avatar The Last Airbender

While the Avatar universe has never held back on its exploration of trauma, I think this is the first time it’s truly been centre stage. And while there have been disabled characters before, this is the first time a main character has had a debilitating injury (shown on screen) which caused them to relearn how to walk.

Marvel Sidelined Doctor Strange In His Own Movie

Marvel is evolving, whether fans want it or not. Phase 4 of the MCU is by far its most diverse collection of stories present (both in terms of the characters and the range of genres). In order to remain an MCU fan, one must let go of preconceived ideas of what a superhero should be.

Diversity Is Crucial To Authentic Storytelling

One’s skin colour does not determine how good of a writer they are. But one’s experiences do.

WandaVision: Yes, It Is That Good!

We love Wanda because we can relate to her. I, myself, suffer from Major Depressive Disorder and Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. I’m lucky enough to have access to therapy and a group of people who love and support me, Wanda isn’t. So while her actions are morally corrupt, her intentions are pure. She is a good person who lost control of herself because of her grief. That’s something I can personally relate to.

“The Lorax”: The Impact of Capitalism And Consumerism On The Environment

Behind the singing and humour, there’s a real message there. The Lorax teaches kids the value of the environment and the destructive power of capitalism.

“Fate: The Winx Saga”: Just As I Predicted, I Hate It

The original Winx Club worked because it knew that diversity and feminist messages are things you show, not things you tell. The main cast were filled with strong female characters and half of them were women of colour.

WandaVision: Is It Worth Your Time?

I do think WandaVision is going to be a good show. The premise is set up well. The acting is good. The costumes are wonderful. The humour is top notch. It just takes time for things to start rolling. And if you are willing to wait for the main conflict to be established, I think you’ll enjoy WandaVision. So yeah, I definitely recommend you find a way to watch the show.

“The Legend Of Korra” Season 1: Corrupt Governments And The Problems They Cause

This show is a little hard for me to watch right now, especially considering the political climate. I see so many parallels between the events of the first season and the real world. And while the level of corruption, discrimination and police brutality depicted in the show is relatively tame (in comparison with what’s happening right now), it still hits me pretty hard.

“Pride & Prejudice” by Jane Austen: The Exploitation Of Women In Regency England

At its core, “Pride & Prejudice” is a feminist text and anyone who denies that fact needs to either re-read the text or re-evaluate their perception of feminism.

Miraculous Ladybug New York Special: Adrien’s Abuse Narrative

Abuse is a difficult topic to accurately depict, especially within the confines of a children’s show. That is why I am incredibly impressed with the writing of the New York Special.
